Jason Denayer’s future is in flux, should Celtic bring him back?
Jason Denayer has spoken publicly about his open ended future, with the Belgian in conflict with his club Manchester City.
Denayer is instead being pushed towards Spanish side Girona on loan – a move the defender is not keen on.
He said: “I would rather not join Girona. Not because I want to make it difficult for myself, but because I like to play in a team that is dominating. Not only to show myself, but also to develop myself.”

Denayer’s best move might be if former club Celtic come back in for him.
The defender’s best spell of his career came on loan at Celtic in 2014/15, when he helped them win two trophies as well as being voted as Scotland’s Young Player of the Year.
His form there saw him called into Belgium’s international squad, and that’s got to be a crucial goal for him in a World Cup year.
Celtic’s Jason Denayer celebrates
Denayer is coming off a depressing season at relegated side Sunderland, and clearly does not fancy another relegation scrap.
He needs a permanent switch after three years out on loan, and an injury to international teamate Dedryck Boyata gives Celtic an extra reason to pursue him.
The defender is clearly not happy, and may even consider another loan switch to play for ‘dominating’ Celtic, where he could play Champions League football. He knows what he will be getting there, and it could be great for his career.
The Scottish champions may not have a better time to try and lure him back.
