Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been interested in signing Andre Green from Aston Villa on two previous occasions.

Green is one of the brightest talents coming through in a very exciting crop of youngsters at Villa Park, and The Sun reported during the last window that the Villans would be looking for at least £10 million before selling Mauricio Pochettino’s target.

Almost six months on however, and it appears that this summer may be exactly the right time for Tottenham to attempt to land Green for a third time with Villa in an extremely unfortunate situation following their inability to secure promotion out of the Championship.
The Daily Mail reports that the club have great financial concerns and now need to halve the wage bill during the coming months, and that may mean selling key players and looking to the youngsters to form a large part of Steve Bruce’s squad next season.

Villa may have no intention of selling for that price, but Spurs should certainly consider monitor the situation very closely as they may perhaps be hugely disappointed if Green does head elsewhere.
Tottenham need to consider being ruthless and taking advantage of Villa’s financial pressures by offering a quick deal for Green – ideally for less than the £10 million they were quoted in January. He appears to have a huge amount of potential, and now there is perhaps the perfect window for Spurs to sign him for significantly less than what his asking price should perhaps be.
