David Moyes apparently wants to sign Lamine Kone from Sunderland – how worried should West Ham fans be?
David Moyes arrives for the English Premier League football match between Hull City and Sunderland.
David Moyes could return for one of his old Sunderland players in the January transfer window, with the Mirror reporting the new West Ham manager wants Lamine Kone.
Moyes managed Kone during the 2016/17 season as the Black Cats were relegated bottom of the Premier League after 26 defeats and just 24 points.
Lasse Vibe of Brentford and Lamine Kone of Sunderland challenge for the ball during the Sky Bet Championship match.
The centre-back was part of the division’s second worst defence, which conceded 69 goals, while he is now in the Championship’s worst backline who have let in 31 already in 2017/18.
While that is admittedly not entirely Kone’s fault, the 28 year old has been in poor form this season and the fact the Hammers are rumoured to be considering the defender should be a worrying sign.

West Ham currently have the top flight’s leakiest defence, conceding 23 goals to date, and therefore it suggests that Moyes targeting recruitment at the back in the New Year is a good idea.
Yet does turning to a player who has not shown any sort of decent form since the end of the 2015/16 campaign suggest the Scot might be a little out of touch?
