Michael Keane has certainly had a bumpy first year at Goodison park, but he is going through his best form in an Everton shirt since he joined from Burnley in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old defender was nowhere near his best for large spells of last season, as uncharacteristic individual mistakes cost his side on several occasions.

But he appears to have settled fully now and the centre-back has started the new campaign in great form.

The Englishman looks a lot more assured in the heart of the Toffees backline and is developing a good partnership with loanee Kurt Zouma.

After signing Colombian Yerry Mina in the summer, the competition for places in the Everton defence was certainly cranked up a notch.

He is yet to make his first-team appearance for the Merseyside club due to injury, but Keane has seized his opportunity in the side to prove he won’t give up his position easily.

Everton forked out £30million (BBC) for the 6ft 2in ace last year and many feel that he’s not warranted that sort of price tag.

But consistent performances in defence during recent weeks may begin to change people’s minds and he looks like he is loving life under manager Marco Silva.

Keane, who earns £60,000-a-week, according to spotrac.com, is now starting to look like the real deal.
