Is Mbappe Algerian? Plenty of people have taken to Google to ask this question about the Liverpool target ahead of the World Cup semi-final between France and Morocco.

The 23-year-old will be looking to reach his second successive World Cup final on Wednesday evening, where Lionel Messi and Argentina await if France are victorious.

So, is Mbappe Algerian? Let’s take a look…

Is Mbappe Algerian?

Well, Mbappe himself was born in France, although his mother – Fayza Lamari, a former handball player – is of Algerian origin.

A number of people have also asked if the PSG No.7 is African.

Mbappe, as aforesaid, was born in France, but he certainly has deep roots in Africa as his father – Wilfried Mbappe, who works as his son’s agent as well as a football coach – was born in Cameroon.

Liverpool target Mbappe

Interestingly, Wilfried Mbappe could soon be sitting down to negotiate with Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp.

Marca in Spain believe the Reds are paying close attention amid rumours that the France international is no longer happy at PSG, where he has spent five years so far following a £166m move from AS Monaco in 2017.

Furthermore, a story from El Pais in France claims that Mbappe’s uncle has advised his nephew to make Anfield his next career destination.

It would surprise us if a move did happen, given the striker’s salary and the amount PSG would demand to sell France’s poster boy.

Nevertheless, anything can happen in football, so make sure to keep an eye on Mbappe and Liverpool.
