Roberto Firmino has been in excellent form for Liverpool this season but would many regard him as one of the Premier League’s best strikers?

Roberto Firmino scored his fourth goal in seven matches in all competitions this season as Liverpool drew 2-2 at home to Sevilla in the Champions League.
Firmino did also miss a penalty in the game, but the Brazilian has still started the new campaign strongly and is a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s potent attack.

Yet while the 25-year-old is praised for his contribution to the Reds, there are not many discussing the forward in the same breathe as other Premier League stars in the position such as Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku.
Firmino’s goal tally for 2017/18 is equal to Kane’s and one better than Aguero’s – admittedly after two more outings – while Lukaku is ahead on six.
In a period in England’s top flight where the traditional number nine such as the aforementioned trio are among the leading lights, the Brazil international is bucking the trend but is still prolific.

Firmino is an unselfish player who can interchange with the arguably more highly regarded Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in a fluid front three and is just at ease being provider as scorer. In fact his three assists in comparison to Aguero (1), Kane (1) and Lukaku (0) is what means the South American should be heralded among the league’s best.
Firmino has all the attributes and talent and yet for some reason is not quite receiving the recognition he truly deserves.
