Celtic are experts when it comes to unearthing talented youngsters from Europe’s smaller leagues – like Leeds United-linked Lech Poznan winger Jozwiak.
Who knows whether Leeds United will sign highly-rated Lech Poznan winger Kamil Jozwiak in the January transfer window.
The Ekstraklasa side’s president, Karol Krimczak, confirmed to Sport.pl on Wednesday that Leeds had made a £180,000 bid for the 19-year-old – but stated in emphatic fashion that the club had no desire to sell in the January transfer window.
Jozwiak is out of contract at the end of the season, however. So it seems unlikely that Poznan will be able to do anything to stop the Polish Under-19 ace leaving for Elland Road eventually – whether in January or next summer.
But will Leeds be the only side in the mix? North of the border, Scottish champions Celtic have made a habit out of unearthing gems from some of Europe’s more under-the-radar leagues – a tactic manager Brendan Rodgers spoke highly of earlier in the season, per the Daily Record.
The likes of Victor Wanyama, Virgil Van Dijk, Nir Bitton and Jozo Simunovic (below) have all moved to Glasgow after starring in relatively small ponds in recent seasons.
And Celtic, as Rodgers added, are rather astute when it comes to making impressive profits on hitherto unknown talents that they brought in on the cheap.
Jozwiak, then, is exactly the sort of unheralded, affordable youngster that Celtic have brought to Parkhead in recent seasons. Therefore, it would be no surprise if The Hoops were already aware of Jozwiak’s potential.
And if they aren’t, reports of Leeds’ interest should convince the Scottish champions to have a look at a player who would appear to be the archetypal Celtic signing.
