Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor is looking like he is back to his best after a string of impressive performances in recent weeks.

The left-back endured a difficult summer, handing in a transfer request, which was denied.

His contract situation remains up in the air, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

As the reigning club player of the year, this put his early season performances under the spotlight.

Taylor did not have any ‘bad games’ as such, but he was not playing as effectively as he ended 2015/16.

This has changed in recent weeks as the team’s form has improved, and is evidenced by his impact at the weekend in the 2-0 win over Burton Albion, in which he helped his side keep a clean sheet.

Taylor made five interceptions in the fixture, more than he has in any Championship game so far this season.

His previous best was three, managed the week before against Wolves, and these two matches are among just three in which he has managed more than two interceptions in a game this season.

Taylor is playing as part of a settled back four, which has to be helping his form, and while he is enjoying his football, there is surely less reason to up and leave mid-season.

The Whites are up into ninth place, one point off the play-offs, and if they remain in a strong position in January, it will surely tempt Taylor to see the job through to the end of the season and see if he can be part of a memorable promotion winning side before deciding his future.
