The Tottenham Hotspur right-back is very much second choice at the moment but that could change if reports are to be believed.

According to a recent report from the Manchester Evening News, Pep Guardiola is confident of luring Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker to Manchester City this summer, but if the unexpected happens and he does make the switch, do Spurs already have his ready-made replacement?
Kieran Trippier signed for Tottenham off the back of an ever-present campaign for Burnley, so it would have come as quite a blow when he was suddenly cast as the perennial substitute.
Now 26, Trippier has featured 19 times in all competitions this season, making it 38 games since moving to White Hart Lane, and he rarely disappoints, putting in some outstanding performances earlier in the campaign.
So is he good enough to play week in, week out?
Some Tottenham fans will tell you he is good enough to be Walker’s understudy but not to replace the man himself for good. And yet he was a regular starter at Burnley and earned his move to Spurs with a string of impressive outings despite the Clarets’ struggles.

He is also arguably reaching his peak and his patience should be rewarded.
Of course Tottenham will be expected to fight tooth and nail to keep Walker in North London, but if the England international does move on, Mauricio Pochettino will have a decision to make – promote Trippier or continue to see him as little more than a backup plan.
