The Ivory Coast international now has 15 league goals for the Villans this season.

As Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia made light work of play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday in Saturday’s 2-0 victory with a brace, taking his tally to 15 in Villa colours this season, just how good is the Villa striker?

Granted, Villa are in the Championship as opposed to their usual surroundings of the Premier League, but if the season were to finish tomorrow, Kodjia would have scored the second highest amount in a season for Villa this decade.

The 27-year-old – who arguably still has his best years ahead of him – has been a revolutionary signing for Villa, and it’s easy to forget that he’s had two different managers and is still in his debut season at Villa Park.

Kodjia only scored once under Roberto Di Matteo’s stewardship, but has shown under current boss Steve Bruce just how capable he is, irrespective of what formation he’s been fielded in.

With nine games of the season to go, you wouldn’t bet against Kodjia adding to his tally – nor would you bet against him firing Villa to the play-offs or higher next season.

While Villa’s best striker this decade is ultimately Christian Benteke, Kodjia is doing all the right things to show he can attempt to rival the Belgian forward.
