Glasgow Rangers take on Hibernian on Wednesday, but the Ibrox side have a number of unavailable players.

Rangers will be looking to build on the confidence that they have managed to gain in recent weeks when they face Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday.

Graeme Murty has now achieved something that Pedro Caixinha never managed during his brief tenure at Ibrox – with the victory over Ross County at the weekend proving to be the first time since December 2016 that the Gers have managed to win three games in a row.

But Murty now faces a difficult task trying to make it four wins on the bounce when they face Hibs on Wednesday as his midfield could well be even more depleted than it was for Saturday’s contest.

Graham Dorrans and Ryan Jack missed the weekend through injury and suspension respectively and Murty was handed a further worry when Ross McCrorie had to be taken off with just over 15 minutes to go as he also sustained an injury.

The short gap between fixtures is surely not going to do McCrorie any favours, and it would appear that the academy graduate – who played in holding midfield once again – is facing a race against time to be fit for the contest.

Should the youngster miss out, then perhaps it may be time for Murty to call upon Niko Kranjcar and hand the Croatian his first start in any competition since September.

Kranjcar has been a frustrating signing for the Light Blues since arriving last summer, but has shown glimpses of his quality when he has managed to stay fit.

Hibs boast a strong midfield unit, and Kranjcar’s experience may help Rangers cope with that unit at Easter Road if they are unable to call upon McCrorie for the game.

Using Jamie Barjonas may appeal to Murty as he has given him a few chances lately, but there is surely an argument that the rarely-seen 2016 signing may be the right option to throw in for the fixture – especially as he now has so much to prove with a number of players fighting for a place in the midfield.

Who should replace McCrorie if he is not fit for Wednesday?
