The French defender is nowhere near the Leeds United first-team and is not getting any younger.

Of all Leeds United’s current players, defender Amadou Haidara is the most mysterious.

Ask most Whites supporters to pick him out of a line-up and they would struggle, with the 23-year-old never officially announced as a Leeds player despite arriving at Elland Road last summer.

A series of under-23 appearances have followed, but with a first-team breakthrough as far away as ever, surely it is time the Whites ditched one of their most baffling signings of recent years – and this is a club that signed Edgar Cani!

All jokes aside, Haidara was no doubt brought in as a relatively risk-free back-up option, but despite a few appearances for the second string it would take a considerable change of fortune for Leeds manager Garry Monk to change his mind and give the player his first-team bow next season.

Instead, the best Haidara can hope for is more time with the under-23s and a potential loan move, yet the latter may only be the case if Leeds actually see a future for the player in Yorkshire.

Far more likely is a summer departure, which would call an abrupt halt to a saga some Leeds supporters will not even be aware of, such has been the mystery surrounding his arrival.
