Don Hutchison has intimated on Twitter that there may be tension in the Newcastle United dugout after spotting something against Leeds United last night.
Both sides played out a fascinating and pulsating 1-1 draw at St James’s Park.
Newcastle went into the game on the back of speculation of a bust-up between striker Dwight Gayle and assistant manager Graeme Jones.
At one point during the Leeds clash, Jones and manager Steve Bruce were both giving out instructions to Matt Ritchie on the sidelines.
And it looked as if it was Jones, not Bruce, who was the manager.
And Hutchison wrote on Twitter that there could be tension between the pair.
One of Jones’s pre-Newcastlejobs was at West Bromwich Albion with Darren Moore.
But at the time of their dismissal, it was reported by The Express and Star that Jones had strained relations with the Baggies’ hierarchy.
It was also reported that it was felt Jones had too much power at West Brom, exerting too much influence over Moore’s tactics and match-day strategy.
And those scenes on the touchline last night, where Bruce looked like Jones’s assistant, certainly add weight to previous reports about the former Belgium coach, who worked alongside Roberto Martinez.
Nevertheless, it is a bit concerning if there’s disharmony in the ranks, especially in the dugout.
The Magpies are 18th in the Premier League table after not winning any of their five games so far this season.
And the last thing they need is tension between coaching figures.
