The Bluebirds have suffered a horror start to the season with just one win in eight games and with four consecutive losses, there’s little sign of improvement. ‘Old rivals’ Leeds United were the most recent team to take three points from the Cardiff City Stadium, last Saturday.

The Cardiff City board are said to believe in Paul Trollope and what he’s trying to do but fans are fearing the worst as their season crashes in front of them. Trollope’s men have been booed off the field in both of their last two home games.

The former Bristol Rovers boss has attempted to install a new 3-5-2 formation into the Cardiff team having worked with the system during his time as Wales coach but it clearly isn’t working.

Trollope did make a change for the visit of Leeds last Saturday, switching to a 4-5-1 and it seemed to work to a point but Cardiff still left the pitch empty-handed.

It’s been just over two years since Cardiff sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for overseeing a disappointing start but they have suffered an even worse start to this season – Cardiff’s opening points tally is their worst in 12 years.

It’s Rotherham away next-up for Cardiff and there’s a real sense of ‘do or die’ with Trollope surely needing a win to keep his job.

The Cardiff City board have been more patient this time around and they’ve given a young manager chance to develop his ideas but their patience will surely have worn out if they find their club at the bottom of the pile after matchday nine.
