David Provan has praised Celtic midfielder and reported Aston Villa target David Turnbull in The Scottish Sun.
The Celtic legend believes that Turnbull has been a “stand-out” for the Hoops this season.
Provan has added that he is not surprised that Premier League club Villa are reportedly interested in the 21-year-old Scotsman.
The Scottish Sun has reported that Villa are interested in signing Turnbull from the Hoops this summer and are planning to make a bid of £7 million.
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Turnbull is another you’d hang your hat on.
“A stand-out in a miserable season for Celtic, is it any wonder Aston Villa are interested?”
Turnbull has been one of the better players for Celtic this season.
The Scottish youngster has played consistently well, and there is no surprise that Villa are reportedly interested in him.

The 21-year-old made 20 starts and six substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership this campaign, scoring six goals and providing five assists in the process.
The young midfielder also scored one goal and gave one assist in one Europa League game for the Hoops this campaign.
John McGinn has been a huge success at Villa following his move from Hibernian, and Turnbull could be the same.
However, Celtic are unlikely to sell Turnbull in the summer transfer window, especially for £7 million.
