Leeds United are reportedly set to announce two new signings but what could that mean for Lee Erwin and Marcus Antonsson?
According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are closing in on the signings of Samu Saiz and Caleb Ekuban, and the two forwards’ arrivals could have a direct impact on a pair of Whites players who had been hoping to use this pre-season as a springboard to better things at Elland Road?
Lee Erwin has already scored three goals in two friendlies for Leeds since Thomas Christiansen took charge, while Marcus Antonsson found the net against Guiseley last weekend.
However, if secondary striker Saiz and centre forward Ekuban both arrive in England as expected, two of Leeds’ three current forward options could find themselves fighting for a few minutes here and there, if that.

With Chris Wood the undisputed number one, and with the YEP also suggesting Leeds have not given up on versatile winger Ezgjan Alioski, Erwin currently appears to be in the box seat when it comes to being a backup goal-scoring option.
Given his age and his promising loan spell at Oldham Athletic last season, the young Scot could have the advantage over Antonsson when it comes to staking a claim this summer.
Christiansen has already praised the efforts of the former Motherwell man and one wonders if Leeds could soon be overloaded with goal-scorers just a few months after being over reliant on Wood.
It is a wonderful problem to have. However, assuming Ekuban and Saiz complete their deals as expected, this summer could see a straight battle between two fringe Leeds forwards to determine who will remain and who will be moved on.
