Rio Ferdinand has suggested on Five that Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has to be considered one of the most important players in the Premier League now.
Villa won 3-0 against Arsenal at the weekend, and Grealish once again caught the eye with his display.
The claret and blues captain was a constant source of creativity for his side, as Villa struggled to deal with him.
Grealish’s form has really gone to the next level this year, with his performances earning him great credit.
And Ferdinand has now questioned with Grealish is the most influential player in the Premier League for his side.
“They had one of the main men in form in the Premier League in Jack Grealish. How can England keep him out,” he said.
“This kid now is really enjoying himself in the Premier League.
“Is he the most important player in the Premier League at the moment?
“Performance wise, especially in the big games this season, this kid has turned up and been the guy who has actually had the spark, the guile and the personality on the ball to take it and commit people and create chances for others. I love watching him.”
Grealish is certainly vital to Villa as almost all their attacking play is built up through him.
The addition of Ross Barkley has seemingly helped him to thrive though, as the Chelsea loanee is also an excellent ball carrier, and opposition teams can no longer concentrate so much of their attention on stopping Grealish.
Villa have been in excellent form this term, and their win over Arsenal has lifted them up into sixth place in the Premier League table.
