Greg Docherty could struggle to play regularly at Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers this season.

Greg Docherty couldn’t have done any more to save his Rangers career.
Gers boss Steven Gerrard loaned out the 22-year-old last summer in a move that’ll have devastated him, given he’s a massive fan of the Ibrox club.
Docherty, who joined Rangers in January of 2018, scored 10 goals for League One side Shrewsbury Town and it’s given him another chance to prove himself to Gerrard.
It was a brilliant goalscoring return and one that proved that he’s a bit more than the water carrier-type that the light Blues thought they had signed, but going by the manager’s transfer activity, is the young Scottish midfielder already finished in Glasgow?
Gerrard has signed Joe Aribo and re-signed Steven Davis on a permanent basis, neither of which were at Rangers when Docherty was originally loaned out.
The 39-year-old manager already had brilliant midfield options, hence Docherty’s departure, but the competition for places is much tougher now than it was 12 months ago and it’s going to be so hard for him to play regularly in Gerrard’s team next season.
Would he have signed Aribo if he had long-term plans for the former Hamilton player? Arguably not.
Ten goals and 11 assists down South prove that he has the hunger to make it at his boyhood club, but logistically he might be further away from Rangers’ first XI now than ever before.
