Wolverhampton Wanderers play host to Derby County in the Championship on Wednesday night.

Gary Rowett manager of Derby looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Wolverhampton at iPro Stadium on August 12, 2017 in Derby, England.

Derby manager Gary Rowett spoke to reporters ahead of his side’s clash with league leaders Wolves on Wednesday night, and talked up his team’s chances of beating Nuno Espirito Santo’s men at Molineux, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The Rams currently sit in fifth spot in the Championship table, three points clear of seventh placed Millwall, although they have played a game less than Neil Harris’ side.

Wolves, meanwhile, sit at the top of the tree, and are almost certainties for promotion. They need just six more points from their final five games to guarantee their top flight status for next season, and they will be desperate to beat Derby on Wednesday night.

The east Midlands outfit will certainly have their work cut out at Molineux, but Rowett insisted that he is confident in his side’s chances of success against the league leaders, as quoted by the Express & Star:

“We’re capable of beating anyone. I think playing away suits us and gives the opposition something to think about. It will be an interesting one. They are a very good side and we know it will be a difficult task but I’m sure they will be aware that we are a good side, too.”

If the Rams do manage to beat Wolves, their place inside the play-off spots will be all but secured, but with Nuno’s men in such fine form, that will be easier said than done.
