West Brom reportedly sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old in Serie A, but Tottenham Hotspur could turn him into a star.
You may recognise the name Chiesa. Enrico was one of the most lethal goalscorers of the 90s, a poacher extraordinaire certain to invoke nostalgic memories of Serie A on Channel 4.
However, the early signs suggest Fiorentina’s lightning winger Federico could even emulate his famous father. Therefore, it’s no surprise that West Brom dispatched scouts to watch the teenager in action during Monday’s clash with Torino, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
Nonetheless, it would be something of a shock if Chiesa junior was to swap Florence for The Midlands. Tony Pulis’ side may be flying high this season with genuine ambitions of a top half finish but, after just eight months in the Fiorentina first-team, it’s clear that Chiesa’s potential far outstrips ninth place in the Premier League.
Two goals and two assists in 17 Serie A appearances mean he’s hardly challenging Kylian Mpabbe for the title of Europe’s most in-demand teenager but the 19-year-old is one of the most exciting young Italian talents in many a year.
In fact, he is exactly the kind of player who could thrive under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur rather than Tony Pulis at West Brom.
Rapid on the counter and versatile enough to play in any positon across the front three, Chiesa is not merely a speed merchant a la Moussa Sissoko, Clinton N’Jie (below) or Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, but a supremely well rounded attacker comfortable in possession and excellent off the ball.

Furthermore, Spurs have lacked incision against deep lying sides so Chiesa’s intelligent in tight spaces and quick feet would offer Pochettino a different dimension in attack. The Argentine’s proven ability to unlock young talent could ensure a move would be beneficial for all parties.
With all things considered, West Brom could consider themselves quite fortunate if he proved receptive to their advances.
