A loan move to Olympiakos in January seemed like the best solution for all parties, allowing Mirallas to rejoin his former club and try to retain his place in Belgium’s World Cup squad.
He remains involved with the Red Devils, featuring in their recent friendly against Saudi Arabia, but his time at Olympiakos had not been quite the hit he wanted.
Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad reported at the end of last month he had failed to convince Olympiakos he is worthy of a permanent move, and he could end up returning to Belgium instead.
Just perhaps, Mirallas is beginning to turn his fortunes around.
He has scored two goals in his last three club games for Olympiakos, having failed to score or assist in his first 11 matches for the club.
Last night he netted in a 5-1 win as Olympiakos beat AOK Kerkyra. Despite this clinical win, they are in third place, and facing a rare year without winning a league title.
There is a chance Mirallas could yet earn himself a permanent move to the Greek side if he keeps up his form, and add to Everton’s cash pot for the summer.
