Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal rules himself out of the running for Everton job as search makes little progress.
Louis van Gaal is seen on the touchline ahead of the UEFA Champions League Group F football match between Manchester City and Feyenoord.
This comes after Sam Allardyce told talkSPORT he did not want to be considered because of the indecision from the hierarchy at Goodison Park.
Sam Allardyce shows appreciation to the fans after the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Hull City.
It is approaching a month since Ronald Koeman was sacked but the Toffees are no closer to appointing his permanent successor, although Sky Sports says that Marco Silva is still being considered despite Watford rejecting approaches for their boss.
Yet while Van Gaal may not have been seriously in the running, there remains a concern that there is no clear idea of who will take charge from Koeman as David Unsworth continues as caretaker.
David Unsworth, caretaker manager of Everton, arrives at the stadium prior to the Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
Aside from Silva, which looks a long way from completion, there appears to be no direction to the Merseysiders’ search and with the club only three points outside the Premier League relegation zone that may well be a concern.
Where Everton turn next remains to be seen, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that when the decision was made about Koeman there was no clear contingency plan in place for what would be the next step.
