Fresh links to Rekeem Harper should concern Celtic’s Eboue Kouassi.

You get the feeling that Eboue Kouassi is at a seminal moment in his unflattering Celtic career.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who has made 12 Premiership appearances in 30 months in Glasgow, hasn’t kicked a ball for the Hoops since October due to injury.

This will be Kouassi’s first summer without Brendan Rodgers – the manager who signed him for £3 million in 2017 [Scottish Sun] – at the club.

Rodgers was a fan and once said to The Scottish Sun that he would ‘certainly fulfill’ the Scott Brown role when the legendary captain moves on, a prediction which now looks a million miles from coming to fruition.

That’s because Rodgers’s successor, whoever it proves to be, will already have a bunch of better midfielders.

To make things worse, now there’s reports from The Daily Mail that the Bhoys want 19-year-old West Bromwich Albion gem Rekeem Harper, who plays in the same position as Kouassi.

He could be in real trouble this summer. No longer has he got the protection of Rodgers, and there’s every chance that the next manager will either ship him out or have him so far down the pecking order at Lennoxtown that he might as well be gone.

Still only 21, the former Krasnodar star has plenty of potential, but whether he gets to realise it at Celtic is growing more and more unlikely.
