As reported by the London Evening Standard, David Moyes has confirmed that Joe Hart will start West Ham’s Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Arsenal on Tuesday after Adrian established himself as the Hammers’ number one in the Premier League in recent times.
The Spaniard has been excellent lately. In his four top flight appearances this term – which have included games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal – he has conceded just two goals, keeping three clean sheets in that run to help the Irons lift themselves out of the relegation zone.
Hart meanwhile, has endured a pretty miserable time since arriving on loan from Manchester City, having had to pick the ball out of his net on 30 occasions already this year.
Therefore, it is probably no surprise that Hart is set to be between the sticks for the trip to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday – but perhaps that is the wrong decision.
With West Ham showing such encouraging signs right now, putting out their strongest side and doing everything they can to reach the semi-final of the competition may perhaps be a smart move from Moyes to try and keep as much momentum as possible heading into the Christmas period, and right now, their strongest side sees Adrian selected in goal.
Moyes has certainly proved a lot of his doubters wrong during his time in charge at the London Stadium, so perhaps Hart will go on to play a blinder and suddenly West Ham will be in an even better position, but there will surely be some supporters who travel to the game who will need to be convinced that selecting Hart is the right decision.
