However, with a report from the Daily Mail today suggesting that the club are reluctant to meet Toby Alderweireld’s £110,000 per week wage demands, Levy could be on the verge of making a catastrophic error.
The Belgian is arguably the best centre-back in the world, and his strong performances have been a major contributing factor being Spurs’ success since he joined the club in the summer of 2015.
By failing to meet the 28-year-old’s demands, Tottenham would not only be losing one of the best players in the league, but they would also strengthen one of their rivals, whether that be domestically or on the continent, as the former Atletico Madrid and Southampton man would definitely join one of Europe’s elite clubs.

Alderweireld is one of the most popular players at Tottenham, and keeping hold of him will be of paramount importance to their hopes of success over the next five years or so.
The Lilywhites must make a decision in regards to the kind of progression they want to make, and if they genuinely want to compete for major honours both domestically and in Europe, they must do everything within their power to tie the 65-capped international down to a new long-term deal, without the insertion of a release clause.
