Rangers winger scored at the weekend and continues to impress.

It is not an exaggeration to say the signings made by former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha have been pretty terrible.
Not only did Caixinha lose his job but Rangers are no closer to overhauling Celtic.
The one exception among Caixinha’s catalogue of failures is star man Daniel Candeias.
Candeias has been so good that Rangers acted to sign him to a contract extension last month, stretching his stay at the club out to 2020.

There is a real case that Candeias should be Rangers’ player of the season, with his consistency outshining all of Graeme Murty’s additions.
Jamie Murphy, Sean Goss, Jason Cummings and co have shown flashes, but have not been able to deliver in the way Candeias has.
He was the eighth player signed by Caixinha last summer for just £700,000 from Benfica.

Expectations were not high of a winger entering his 30s, yet he has defied any predictions that he could struggle.
His goal at the weekend against Hearts was Candeias’ eighth goal of the season, to add to his 13 assists.
If Rangers had a few more like Candeias, they might be a lot closer to Celtic than they currently are, and they need a big performance from him next weekend against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
