If Scott Bain is in Celtic’s squad today, it’s terrible news for Craig Gordon.

Things are going great for Celtic’s Scott Bain recently.
The Hoops’ goalkeeper is back in training following a thumb injury and the club extended his contract for another year this week, signing on until 2023.
Bain spoke to the media ahead of Celtic’s League Cup semi-final with Hibernian this evening and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if he returned to the squad.
Fraser Forster has the gloves right now and Bain won’t be playing ahead of him on a regular basis.
Returning to training and his new contract has given Bain a new lease of life at Parkhead. In contrast, it seems likely that his rival’s career at Celtic might be over.
If Bain is the club’s number two then that means Craig Gordon is number three and he won’t be making Neil Lennon’s match-day squad every week any longer.
And the really bad news for the veteran Scot – who turns 37 in December – is that he’s out of contract in Glasgow next summer.
How is he going to earn a new deal if he’s nowhere near the first XI?
Bain’s worrying form and subsequent injury in August indicated that Gordon could get chances to earn himself a new deal, but then Forster returned on loan from Southampton and the Scotland international hasn’t had a sniff since.
And if Bain returns to the squad today, it isn’t a stretch to suggest that Gordon may never play for the club again.
