Is Charly Musonda already regretting Celtic move after Brendan Rodgers’s Rangers snub?

Celtic moved into the final of the Scottish Cup on Sunday by swatting aside Old Firm rivals Rangers at Hampden Park.

In the build-up to the game, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers told the media that Charly Musonda still had a big role to play for his side.

The Chelsea-owned ace joined the Hoops on an 18-month loan deal in January but has only managed eight appearances across all competitions so far, only three of those being starts.

Rodgers failed to include the 21-year-old in the matchday squad for the win over the Gers and few could blame Musonda if he was already having second thoughts about moving to Glasgow.

Playing in an Old Firm derby must have been one of Musonda’s reasons for joining Celtic in the first place and the fact that Rodgers did not even consider him worthy of a spot on the bench may have cut deep.

The Belgian attacker, on around £520,000 per year in West London [Spotrac], remains a massive talent and the Northern Irish manager certainly has the know-how in regards to getting the best out of young players.

But omitting him entirely would have surely damaged his confidence even more and Musonda, at this moment in time, looks a million miles from being the big player for Celtic that Rodgers claimed he can be.
