Cenk Tosun is off the mark for Everton.

Everton striker Cenk Tosun scored for the Toffees at the weekend in a win over Fulham.

Tosun came off the bench to net in the 3-0 win, scoring his first goal of the season.

It was a huge relief to see Tosun get off the mark, both for supporters, and the player.

The Turkey international was prolific in pre-season and there were hopes that he would be able to translate that to the Premier League, especially after a promising end to 2017/18.

So far it hasn’t happened, and as Tosun stutters, so have Everton.

Prior to the weekend’s win, Everton had won only one Premier League game in the opening two months of the season.

Now with Tosun scoring, Everton are looking bright, and that’s no coincidence.

Everton’s game is built around a lone striker with support from wide players.

If the striker is not scoring or contributing positively, Everton’s plan suffers.

Tosun’s underwhelming start to the season was an underlying feature of their slow start to the season.

Now with the forward in the goals, it’s time for Everton to start clicking into gear.
