Is Celtic’s interest in Tom James bad news for error-prone defender Mikael Lustig?

The Independent reported on Monday that Celtic are battling Swansea City for the signing of young Yeovil Town right-back Tom James.
Swansea are, according to The Independent, more likely to sign the 21-year-old, but is Celtic’s interest a sign that Brendan Rodgers is planning to move on Mikael Lustig this summer?
The 31-year-old has been nothing short of a disaster for the Hoops in recent weeks and sat out Sunday’s win at Rangers through suspension, following his clumsy red card against Aberdeen.
Rodgers dropped him for the Scottish Cup win over Morton earlier this month and that decision, coupled with the Northern Irishman’s reported interest in a new right-back, surely isn’t good news for the Swede.

The Celtic boss also has Anthony Ralston, a highly-rated academy product, so it seems logical that Lustig would be the one to make way if Rodgers does sign a right-back, whether that turns out to be James or somebody else.
Being dropped against Morton was an ominous sign for Lustig, but transfer rumours about signing another player for the same position consolidate theories that the veteran defender might well be moved on.
