Everton have been linked with the Bournemouth hitman, but is he too old?

The Sun reported this past weekend that Everton were among the Premier League clubs vying for Callum Wilson.
Everton badly need an out-and-out striker this summer and if The Sun is to be believed, the Bournemouth hitman is on their radar.
But comments from the Toffees’ Director of Football Marcel Brands indicate that the Goodison Park club won’t be signing him – and definitely not for the reported £40 million needed.
Speaking at a Football Innovation Summit in London on Tuesday morning, Brands told The Liverpool Echo: “The players we brought in last year were all under 25 so we don’t want to invest big money in players who are older.”
This offers a big clue about whether Everton will be going for Wilson, who turned 27 in February.
The reality is that the Cherries marksman is too old for Brands who it seems definitely won’t be sanctioning a big-money move for Wilson.
Plus, the English attacker would have virtually no re-sale value. Hypothetically, he could have two excellent seasons on Merseyside and he’d be 29 by 2021. Strikers on the verge of turning 30 don’t tend to command huge transfer fees.
Brands could and definitely should sign a goalscorer this summer, but it won’t be Wilson.
