Tottenham Hotspur are said to be in the race for Andre Gray, but they surely won’t give in to his current wage demands.
According to a report in the Daily Star, Burnley striker Andre Gray is demanding £100,000-a-week in his next contract.
Gray has just one year left on his deal at Burnley, and while the Clarets want to offer him new terms, they simply cannot afford his wage demands.
The 26-year-old is linked with a number of clubs, and is available for £10 million according to the Daily Mirror, but he may be pricing himself out of a move too.
Tottenham have a strict wage structure in place, and if Gray wants £100,000-a-week he would immediately become one of the Lilywhites’ top earners.
Spurs are unlikely to want to pay that sort of money to bring in a player, who is likely to be given a rotational role.
And, as a result, Gray may be pricing himself out of a move to Spurs – which could leave him in further limbo, with his contract at Turf Moor running down.
