Jonny Hayes has been given a new lease of life at Celtic.

The former Aberdeen winger, a £1.3 million signing in 2017 [The Sun], looks reborn at Celtic in a left-back role.

The 31-year-old received praise from Hoops fans and manager Brendan Rodgers for an excellent display in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Kilmarnock.

Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, he gleamed and admitting that he was relishing every second of it, having endured a difficult 18 months at Parkhead.

But it’s probably about to come to an end.

Rodgers told The Scottish Sun on Monday that Kieran Tierney, who Hayes was filling in for, is fit again and revealed that he could return in the clash against Motherwell this weekend.

If that happens then Hayes is almost certain to find himself back on the bench at best.

The good news is that he looks to be Rodgers’s second-choice option for that role, having climbed over Emilio Izaguirre, but the bad news is that Tierney doesn’t often get injured and Sunday’s heroics at Rugby Park could be one of his last performances for Celtic this season.
