Leeds United have offered a contract to young Polish goalkeeper Kamil Miazek while also sending Bailey Peacock-Farrell to York City.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell has been given the chance to finally play senior football for the first time in his young career.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the 20-year-old goalkeeper has joined National League North side York City on a month-long loan deal. FA rules mean Peacock-Farrell could not move to another Football League club outside of the transfer window but there was nothing stopping Leeds from sending the youngster into non-league.
And Peacock-Farrell will be hoping to build on his one senior appearance, coming during the latter days of Steve Evans’ reign at Elland Road in 2015/16. Though he only has a month to impress at York, the prospect of playing in a real life environment could prove more beneficial than regular run outs in a sanitised academy environment.
“He’s got a massive future ahead of him but he needs some real senior football now and hopefully we can give him the opportunity,” new York manager Martin Gray told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
What this means for Leeds’ hopes of landing Kamil Miazek remains to be seen. The YEP claimed earlier in the week that The Whites had offered a contract to the 21-year-old shot-stopper after a successful trial at Elland Road.
Miazek, who was third choice goalkeeper at Feyenoord very recently, is a free-agent after leaving Polish side Chojniczanka Chojnice and is expected to join up with Leeds’ Under-23 squad.
Peacock-Farrell appears to have left at a good time, then, before he falls to fourth choice in the pecking order. And the fact that the Darlington-born ‘keeper has departed suggests that Leeds are confident that a deal for Miazek can be completed.
