Aston Villa defender Axel Tuanzebe has been in fine form since Dean Smith took charge.

Axel Tuanzebe may well be making himself Aston Villa’s top target in the January transfer window.

Villa have Tuanzebe on loan for the season, but the smart move could be to sign him up at the first opportunity.

The Manchester United youngster has been so impressive of late that his value is only set to rise, if he keeps performing to such a high standard.

And Villa’s only hope of landing the youngster may be to make a move in January.

Dean Smith is known to want to strengthen his defensive options at Villa Park, after initially stating that he felt the squad was top heavy.

The claret and blues have a wealth of attacking options, but not quite as many at the back.

Tuanzebe was actually misused by Villa when Steve Bruce was in charge, with the defender often being utilised as a full-back rather than in the middle of Villa’s backline.

But since Smith has taken over Tuanzebe has arguably been Villa’s star performer, and he may well be the claret and blues’ top priority to sign in January.
