West Ham splashed out £36million (BBC) to sign Felipe Anderson from Lazio in the summer and supporters have seen in glimpses his quality.
The 25-year-old Brazilian is a left-winger with brilliant technical ability and the early signs are that he could be a real success at the London Stadium.
His dribbling is set to torment Premier League full-backs all season and he was directly involved in 18 goals for Italian club Lazio last season.
But he’s not quite hit the ground running for the Hammers, as his search for a first goal continues despite chipping in with two assists.
Anderson is at his most effective when he’s one-on-one with a defender and has express pace to beat them, but he may be hindered by teammate Arthur Masuaku.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has favoured attack-minded left-back Masuaku, 24, in his side and he loves to bomb forward into the final third.
There is a possibility that Masuaku’s constant overlapping runs can restrict Anderson’s influence on the same flank and that combination may need to be developed to get the best out of both of them.
West Ham will be keen for their big money signing Anderson to become a talisman for their side and won’t want his attacking influence hindered.
