Aston Villa are looking to bring in three new central midfielders during the January transfer window.
Aston Villa’s January transfer business so far, suggests that Aaron Tshibola’s future at Villa Park could already be in doubt.
Villa have snapped up Henri Lansbury from Nottingham Forest, and they are on the verge of completing deals for both Birkir Bjarnason and Conor Hourihane (Birmingham Mail).
The trio are all central midfielders, and will strengthen Bruce’s options considerably in that position.
Villa also already have Mile Jedinak and Gary Gardner at the club, and that leaves Tshibola likely to be the one to miss out.
Tshibola was only brought to Villa last summer, but he has struggled for appearances under Steve Bruce.
Although he started in the claret and blues’ last match, the 22-year-old has played just four times since Bruce took charge.
Tshibola’s lack of game time owes partly to injury, but there is also a feeling that Bruce is not entirely convinced by the youngster.
Tshibola has also only started twice since October, and with competition for places set to become that more fierce it is hard to see exactly where the former Reading man fits in.
Villa paid £5 million for Tshibola last summer (Daily Mirror), making him an expensive addition, but after only half a season there has to be question marks over his future at the Midlands club, if Villa do complete all of Bruce’s planned additions this month.
