Thierry Henry has reportedly rejected Aston Villa.
Aston Villa have received a setback in their managerial search with Thierry Henry reportedly snubbing them in favour of Monaco.
ESPN report Henry is set to be named as Monaco’s manager, after they sacked Leandro Jardim yesterday.
This leaves Villa in a quandry, along with John Terry, who was set to link up with Henry as a coach.
Terry can still have a role at Villa, if he is appointed alongside another leading contender, Rui Faria.
Faria worked as Jose Mourinho’s assistant for 17 years and is now looking to make a name for himself in his own right.
He knows Terry from the two spells Mourinho had at Chelsea, and together they could forge an effective team.
Terry immediately has the trust of the Villa players having been in the dressing room just months ago, while Faria has the tactical and coaching knowledge which the former centre-back lacks so far.
Each of them can bring different things to the table, while separately, there would be questions.
With one a more elder figure and one younger, they are a better balanced duo than Henry and Terry might have been together, and they have worked together before.
After Henry’s reported snub, this could be Villa’s best bet.
