Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka helped Switzerland to a much-needed and important win against the Republic of Ireland last night.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka felt the wrath of opposition supporters on Twitter after he helped Switzerland secure a 2-0 win against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night.
The 27-year-old started the crucial Euro 2020 qualifier, and in typical Xhaka fashion, the Arsenal man was booked after 32 minutes.
Heavy rain prior to the game meant that conditions were pretty tough to play in as the game in itself was a feisty encounter, with a number of hard challenges going in from both sets of players.
There were some fans on Twitter who weren’t pleased with Xhaka’s antics, his constant fouling and his behaviour during the game.
Xhaka was his own feisty self as he went into challenges when he needed to and he ensured that his team tried to keep the ball at all times.

The Swiss scored both of their goals on either side of the half, whilst Darren Randolph did save a second-half penalty.
Added with that, Everton’s Seamus Coleman saw red late in the second period, as the right-back had a number of coming together’s with Xhaka.
In the end, Xhaka helped his side record a much-needed three points in their quest to reach next summer’s European Championships.
Xhaka moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2016 for £35 million [BBC Sport] when he made a switch from German side Borussia Monchengladbach, and it is fair to say that he has divided opinion ever since.
