Ireland lost yet again on Wednesday night, as they were beaten 3-2 away at Serbia in their first 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Stephen Kenny did end almost 700 minutes without a goal as Alan Browne struck the opener, before Dusan Vlahovic equalised.
Aleksandar Mitrovic bagged a brace to ultimately give Serbia the win, with James Collins’ goal back little more than a consolation in the end.
Kenny is still waiting for his first win as Ireland boss, but he may need to make a change in goal after Wednesday’s defeat.
Mark Travers – currently on loan at Swindon Town from Bournemouth – started in goal but looked shaky throughout, even being lobbed by Mitrovic for Serbia’s second goal.
Travers was in goal because Darren Randolph and Caoimhin Kelleher are both out injured, but he was found well out of his depth last night.

Fans are now ‘begging’ for Kelleher to return quickly, believing that Ireland wouldn’t have lost had he started in goal instead of Travers.
Others would even prefer him to start with an injury than have anyone else in goal, with Irish fans clearly big admirers of the Liverpool ace.
