Ipswich Town midfielder Grant Ward says he is looking forward to playing against Leeds United this weekend.

The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster says the fact Leeds are in form makes it tougher, but is excited as he know the atmosphere for the match will be among the best he experiences this season.

Ward holds Leeds in high regard, and played on loan for their rivals Rotherham United last season.

Speaking to Ipswich Player, he said: “We’ve been playing well, they’ve been playing well so it’ll be a tough game. Its always a tough game away at Leeds, so I’m looking forward to it.

“Leeds, everyone knows they are a massive club around Europe, they’ve got a big fan base, so going there is going to be tough.

“They’ve had a few chop and change of managers but they are looking a bit more stable now, so that’s good for them, but hopefully we can go there and get a result.”

Ward scored a hat-trick on the first game of the season for Ipswich in a 4-2 win over Barnsley, although has netted just one goal since, a winner against Preston North End.

He has been a regular out on the wing and provided a game winning assist for Ipswich’s recent away win over Derby County.

Ipswich are in 11th position with 12 points, with Leeds United narrowly behind in 15th position with 10 points.
