Ipswich Town’s Kieffer Moore could be perfect Sunderland signing – whether or not they keep Lewis Grabban

A report claims Sunderland could lose top scorer Lewis Grabban in January.

Sunderland strikers could still be in short supply regardless of whether Lewis Grabban is recalled by Bournemouth.

Teamtalk reports that Grabban’s departure is likely in January, with Wolves and Fulham eyeing permanent moves for the 10-goal 29-year-old.

It is claimed that Sunderland are unable to offer such a deal for Grabban, whose last two transfers have totalled around £12 million combined (Transfermarkt).

One player who could be within budget, however, is Ipswich Town striker Kieffer Moore – one of the few EFL players to have outscored Grabban this season.

Moore, who has stuck 13 times while on loan to Rotherham United, is being recalled by Ipswich in January, and won’t be sold unless they receive a ‘bonkers’ offer, according to Tractor Boys manager Mick McCarthy.

But in the words of Rotherham boss Paul Warne, there will still be ‘a few bidding’ for the six-foot-four front man, whose Ipswich contract expires next summer.

And Sunderland, for whom some height up front would not go amiss, would be wise to enter the running. Failing to do so could leave their options very sparse indeed.
