Ipswich Town goalkeeper Bartosz Bailkowski has told Sky Sports he hopes to sign a new contract soon, despite alleged interest from Crystal Palace.

However, the Pole stayed put as the Eagles tied up a deal for Getafe’s Vicente Guaita – albeit one which does not commence until July 1st.

Goalkeeper Vicente Guaita of Getafe CF stops the ball during the La Liga match between Getafe CF and FC Barcelona at Coliseum Alfonso Perez on October 31, 2015 in Getafe, Spain.

And though Palace could still be in the market for another goalkeeper this summer, with both Wayne Hennessey and Julian Speroni out of contract, Bialkowski could be out of reach by then.

“Obviously there are still a couple of things to sort out but hopefully we are going to sign the deal soon,” said the Ipswich shot-stopper.

“I’ve still got the option for next year but like I said there are a couple more things that need to be sorted but I have said so many times before I love this place, I love the club and I’m really happy here.”

Even so, Bialkowski is still hoping to fulfill his ambition of playing in the Premier League, having narrowly missed out with former employers Southampton.

Bartosz Bialkowski of Southampton looks on during the FA Cup Fourth Round Replay match between Southampton and Millwall at St Mary's Stadium on February 7, 2012 in Southampton, England.

He added: “Yeah of course [he would like to play in the Premier League]. When I signed for Ipswich I thought it was going to be with Ipswich but maybe not this season, maybe the next one you just never know.

“Every footballer dreams to play at the highest level possible and it is still my dream”.

Bialkowski has played 134 times for Ipswich since his 2014 move from Notts County.

However, despite his impressive form, the 30-year-old has yet to win a senior cap for Poland, whose Under-21 side he played for six times between 2005 and 2007.

Should Crystal Palace go back in for Bialkowski if his new contract remains unsigned?
