Ipswich Town have been linked with Simon Dawkins.

According to a report in The Sun (print version, page 61 on December 23), Ipswich Town are eyeing a move for free agent Simon Dawkins.
The former Derby County man has been without a club since leaving San Jose Earthquakes last February, having spent two years in the MLS following his move back in 2016.
Dawkins, despite being 31, hasn’t yet played 200 career games which is unusual. He came through the Tottenham Hotspur youth ranks but spent most of his time out on loan.
He finally settled at Derby, becoming a key fixture under then manager Steve McClaren as the Rams battled for promotion in the 2014-15 campaign, before departing the club not long after McClaren’s dismissal.
Ipswich currently find themselves bottom of the Championship and four points from safety. Manager Paul Lambert wants players with knowhow of the second tier in January (eadt), and Dawkins fall into that category.
The Tractor Boys are lacking in creativity as they remain the second lowest scorers in the Championship this term, therefore considering the free agent Jamaica international winger isn’t all too surprising.

Dawkins is an excellent player in possession and produced seven goals and five assists from 35 starts during his spell at Pride Park. He also averaged over 87% pass-accuracy rate (Whoscored).
Dawkins has always had an abundance of ability in his locker, yet his decision to move to the MLS in what was his prime years suggests he never fulfilled his potential and it remains to be seen whether Ipswich could get the best out of him should they opt to bring him in.
