Ipswich Town are interested in splashing the cash on Fulham forward Jay Stansfield as they push for promotion to the Premier League.
The Tractor Boys continue to make incredible strides under Kieran McKenna.
After winning promotion from League One last season with more than 100 goals scored, Ipswich have taken that momentum into the Championship.
Ipswich sit second in the Championship table, three points behind leaders Leicester City and 10 points clear of third-place Leeds United.
Two defeats in 22 so far this season means Ipswich have a real chance of promotion – and they are ready to make a signing to try and get over the line.
Ipswich Town want Fulham’s Jay Stansfield
The East Anglian Daily Times now report that Ipswich have enquired about a deal for Fulham forward Jay Stansfield.
It’s suggested that Ipswich are willing to spend on a big signing in January if the right player is available.
Stansfield could be the man for Ipswich with McKenna seemingly wanting more attacking support.
George Hirst arrived over the summer with Freddie Ladapo, Dane Scarlett and Kayden Jackson also in the Ipswich squad.
Another goalscorer would be very handy in the final stages of the season but whether Fulham would want to lose Stansfield remains to be seen.

Who is Ipswich target Stansfield?
Stansfield is the son of former Exeter City star Adam Stansfield, who tragically passed away in 2010.
Jay came up in the Exeter youth ranks before joining Fulham in 2020, where he has now made eight first-team appearances.
Stansfield made an emotional return to Exeter last season, joining on a season-long loan whilst taking the number nine shirt.
That was his father Adam’s shirt at Exeter and had been retired until Stansfield made his emotional move.
Stansfield excelled with nine goals in 39 games for Exeter, leading Birmingham City into a loan deal over the summer.
The 21-year-old – hailed as an ‘excellent’ player by former Birmingham boss John Eustace – has now scored five goals 19 Championship games this season and finds himself on Ipswich’s wish list.
That would mean Fulham recalling Stansfield from Birmingham to then sell him, so this is a complicated deal for Ipswich but a potentially exciting one.
