Leeds loanee helped Ipswich to a win over Aston Villa.

The first half of the season could not have gone any worse for Toumani Diagouraga, but he is making a real impression for loan side Ipswich Town.

Diagouraga signed for Leeds United last January but was discarded by new boss Garry Monk after only one game, and sent to play with the under-23s.

After being sent out on loan to Ipswich at the end of January, Diagouraga has established himself as a regular starter.

At the weekend he played a key role in a crucial victory for the Tractor Boys, as they went to Aston Villa and won 1-0.

Diagouraga played all 90 minutes, completing 82.9 per cent of his passes, and created one goalscoring opportunity.

Ipswich are up into 13th in the table, leapfrogging Villa as a result of the win, who have dropped to 16th.

There appears to be no route back for the former Brentford man at Leeds, but he is making his latest venture with Ipswich an early success, and making himself a player who Mick McCarthy should be looking to sign permanently in the summer.

On a weekend where Leeds lost 2-1 to Cardiff and Liam Bridcutt lost his composure and got sent off, Diagouraga’s calm and measured performance at Villa Park was a stark contrast.

Here is a look at how Ipswich fans reacted to his performance…
