Blackburn Rovers today went some way towards hopefully helping their relegation fight by securing a season-long loan deal for Martin Samuelsen.

The Norwegian midfielder has arrived until the end of the season as West Ham could not offer him regular playing time this season.

Blackburn were seemingly not the only team interested in the West Ham talent. Ipswich Town were linked with a move for the player by the East Anglian Daily Times this week.

But Tractor Boys manager Mick McCarthy has now made it clear that the Norwegian was not on the shortlist for the club this season.

Speaking to the press this afternoon the Ipswich boss stated:

Ipswich may not have wanted him, but Blackburn fans will be over the moon with the acquisition.

Samuelsen impressed during a loan spell at Peterborough United last season and plenty of Football League fans have been hoping their clubs get the chance to try and develop the West Ham youngster this season.

West Ham will be hoping Samuelsen can toughen up in a Championship relegation battle, and come back to them an even more rounded player.
