Leeds United’s Toumani Diagouraga is seemingly set to join Ipswich Town.
Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has told the club’s official website that a deal to sign Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga is ‘pretty much done’.
The Tractor Boys suffered embarrassment in midweek as they lost 1-0 away at non-league side Lincoln City, and Saturday’s trip to take on Huddersfield Town didn’t go much better either.
McCarthy’s side lost 2-0 to Huddersfield, making it four defeats in the last seven league games for Ipswich, who are languishing in mid-table this season.

Unsurprisingly, manager McCarthy wants new signings added to his squad, and he appears to be closing in on a new signing after Saturday’s disappointing defeat.
Town boss McCarthy has told the club’s official website that a deal for Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga is ‘pretty much done’, though it’s unclear whether that will be on loan or on a permanent basis.
Leeds United’s Toumani Diagouraga comes on as a substitute
“I have spoken to Leeds about Toumani Diagouraga as well and that is pretty much done,” said McCarthy. “He is a good footballer. He is very mobile. He has got some drive about him. He played in the Brentford team that got to the Play-Offs and he will be a good asset for us. It’s good to bring in new faces. It can revitalise the place,” he added.
Diagouraga, 29, was a major signing for Steve Evans at Leeds last January, as he raided Brentford to sign the French midfielder, and he was important at the back end of last term as he made 19 appearances, scoring three goals.
The 6ft 2in midfielder started the season in the Leeds side, featuring in the 3-0 opening day defeat at Queens Park Rangers, but hasn’t been since as manager Garry Monk has completely frozen him out of the Leeds squad.
Now on his way to Portman Road, Diagouraga will finally have the chance to play regularly again – and his exit may just free up some room for Monk to bring in a new face before the transfer deadline.
