Crystal Palace were in contact with Ipswich Town over a January move for Bartosz Bialkowski, the goalkeeper has claimed via Gazeta Wroclawska.
Palace were linked with Bialkowski during the January transfer window (Daily Mirror), but the Pole stayed put as Roy Hodgson’s side turned to Getafe’s Vicente Guaita instead – albeit on a contract which does not commence until July 1st.
However, the Eagles could still enter the market for a second goalkeeper this summer, with both Wayne Hennessey and Julian Speroni out of contract, as Bialkowski continues to stall on a new contract at Ipswich.
Barely a month after he expressed a desire to commit to the Tractor Boys post-haste (Sky Sports), the 30-year-old said: “Everyone wants to play as high as possible.
“I too dream about the Premier League, but of course I owe much to Ipswich. I do not want to force anything, I do not want to push.
“However, if the clubs agree something, then you have to think about it. I have another year left on my contract.
“I know that my club spoke to Crystal Palace in January, but they did not agree the fee.”
The Daily Mirror claimed Ipswich demanded more than £4 million for Bialkowski during the winter transfer window, although that figure could come down as the former Southampton shot-stopper’s deal runs down.
Bialkowski made his long-awaited Poland debut during Friday’s 1-0 defeat to Nigeria.
