Alan Pardew has shot up the favourites list to succeed Mick McCarthy at Ipswich after West Brom sacking.
The odds on Alan Pardew being named the next Ipswich Town manager have fallen to 3/1 with Skybet, with only Lincoln City’s Danny Cowley ahead of him.
Pardew has only been out of a job since Monday (April 2) after being sacked by West Bromwich Albion following a ninth successive defeat in all competitions.
The 56-year-old was appointed by the Baggies on November 29 following the axing of Tony Pulis and took them from 17th to rock bottom during a little over four months in charge.
During that time Pardew only won three matches – two of which came in the FA Cup against Exeter City and Liverpool – and picked up eight points from 18 Premier League games, losing 12 of them.
It should perhaps therefore be unsurprising that Ipswich fans are hardly bowled over with the news that the former Crystal Palace and Newcastle United boss could in line to take over from Mick McCarthy this summer.
The Championship club have already announced that McCarthy will be leaving Portman Road when his contract expires at the end of this season.
